Game Overview
Empires & Allies is a futuristic military strategy game, originally designed as a futuristic version of the existing Boom Beach title. The game focuses on balanced strategic gameplay while offering unique mechanics and features to set it apart from its predecessor.
My Role
I was hired as one of the main designers at Zynga (2017-2018) to supervise the release of new mechanics and features. My primary responsibility was to clearly separate Empires & Allies as a game of its own while remaining true to its balanced strategic nature.
Key Achievements
- Gator - New Omega Unit:
- Immediately after joining the team, I was put in charge of designing the next Omega unit, a key revenue driver for the game.
- Designed Gator, a unit featuring new mechanics not previously seen in the game (primary and secondary weapons).
- The unit was a huge success, leading to significant player engagement and revenue.

- Omega MK2 System:
- Following the success of Gator, I designed and implemented the MK2 system for Omega units.
- Allowed for content reuse in a novel manner while maintaining exclusivity.
- Preserved game balance by avoiding the introduction of increasingly powerful units.
- Resulted in a significant uptick in revenue upon release.
